Building O'Brate: Once only a vision, OSU's new stadium finally ready to shine
Josh Holliday reclined in a chair in his Stillwater living room, watching a little TV with his wife Jenny on a December evening in 2016.
Suddenly, the sounds from the TV were overpowered by the ringtone blaring from Josh’s cell phone. He answered the call from athletic director Mike Holder, and what he heard from his boss would change everything.
“Mr. O’Brate is in. He’s gonna build us that baseball stadium.”

“We’ve Got a Logo Too”: Fiesta Bowl Comeback Caps off All-Time Season for Oklahoma State
Mike Gundy stood on the elevated stage that rested atop the 20-yard line nearest OSU’s endzone.
The golden Fiesta Bowl trophy was in hand, and as he passed it over to quarterback Spencer Sanders, Gundy said, “Hold onto that with two hands, that’s worth a lot of money.”
Once Gundy had a chance to address the crowd and the nation just seconds later, he mentioned something that’s worth a whole lot more than that trophy.
“We want everybody in the country to know, with all due respect, we’ve got a logo too.”

Just(in) time: OSU's timing was perfect for Campbell
Justin Campbell took in the distinctive scent of the sea. It was July 2019, and Campbell was on a three-day cruise to Ensenada, Mexico, to celebrate his graduation. Campbell was a couple weeks away from beginning his freshman year of college at a school he had fallen in love with. He was enjoying the ocean waves, but then the Green Waves called.
Campbell received a call from Travis Jewett, the baseball coach at Tulane University. Campbell answered the call, unaware of what was to come.
“Hey, we’ve got some bad news,” Jewett muttered over the phone.

Orange pipeline: Arenado's trade to St. Louis came through Stillwater
The stadium lights at Allie P. Reynolds shined down on Matt Holliday and his son Jackson. It was a 30-degree night in mid-January of 2020, so baseball season was still two months away. Jackson was standing at shortstop and fielding ground balls from his dad, but he wasn’t alone on that field.
To his right stood superstar third baseman Nolan Arenado.
At the time, Arenado was tenured with the Colorado Rockies, but that changed on January 29, 2021. The Rockies traded the eight-time gold glove winner and five-time All-Star to the St. Louis Cardinals in a move that sent a tidal wave across the MLB. It was a surprising move to many, but this deal has been destined for nearly a year.

Going for gold: OSU downs Baylor to advance to Big 12 finals
Cade Cunningham stood all alone at the top of the key with 4:29 to go. Rondel Walker was driving the baseline toward OSU’s sideline, but needed some help escaping Baylor’s swarming and relentless defense.
Cunningham knew what he needed to do.
He had just buried a three to cut the deficit to two on the possession prior, so it was time for a heat check. Cunningham sprinted toward the left wing, frantically clapping his hands.
Cunningham received the pass from Walker, and pulled up with conviction over Baylor’s MaCio Teague from several feet behind the arc.
Nothing but net.

Lasting legacy: Will Hancock’s memory continues to impact others 20 years later
Sean Maguire hurried into the media workroom at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
As the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, he has a busy schedule. But he’s never too busy to look at that one plaque on the wall, the one listing each Will Hancock Memorial Scholarship winner.
Maguire’s name makes the list. Three times.
Oklahoma State has done many things to honor the 10 members of the men’s basketball traveling party who tragically lost their lives 20 years ago Wednesday in a Colorado plane crash. In a way fitting for the person Hancock was as OSU’s media relations coordinator at the time, he is not only being remembered, he’s changing people’s lives still.
